Ungaro Back on Track

Since Emanuel Ungaro retired in 2004, the fashion house has been struggling with finding a designer. After Ungaro's departure, designers came and went with the seasons. Esteban Cortazar held the job from 2007-2009- the longest a designer lasted during this tumultuous time.

After showing exciting and contemporary looks that seemed to get Ungaro back on track, Lindsay Lohan was hired as artistic director. Cortazar had the forethought to refuse to work with Lohan. Unfortunately, he was the one let go, not her.

Ungaro then hired Estrella Archs to design for the label. Archs and Lohan sent the infamous collection down the runway that included nipple tassels. The collection was the punch line to many fashion jokes. Lohan left Ungaro unceremoniously and chose to focus on her legging and spray tan lines.

Giles Deacon for Ungaro

Archs has finally been dismissed and Giles Deacon has been brought in to head the struggling fashion house. Deacon will continue designing for his line, Deacon. Fashionistas are excited and hope Deacon can bring Ungaro back to its former glory.
