Milan Highlights

Prada

Prada declared that bare legs are passe. So, keep those leggins, textured hose and colored tights around. Turn an old skirt or dress new by using unique legwear. You can find cashmere cable knit tights or leggings with stirrups.

Fendi

Karl Lagerfeld calls the shoes "fake golashes." They are corduroy looking boots (actually leather and suede) boots with rubber toes. Fendi showed these boots with oversized jackets and leggins or skinny pants. Look for these boots to become a statement piece. Besides gray, white and black, yellow, blue and purple walked the runway. And, of course the fur was beautiful, but not affordable for most at over $200,000.

Versace

Versace is always colorful and fun, and this show was no exception. Thigh high slits, cutouts, metallic leather panels adorned dresses for the confident woman. Bright yellow, teal and rich purple were standout colors. Donatella said that biker girls were her inspiration and that showed with leather jackets and the quick pace the models walked. It looks like it is a good idea to hang on to your motorcycle jacket from this year. Also, keep your eye out for metallic leather detailing on dresses and tops and pair it with your motorcycle jacket.

Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli showed layers and animal prints. Remember, we already saw layering as a trend in New York. Animal prints are a fun way to spice up a solid top or dress and can be wore sparingly during the day and then kicked up for night. Cavalli also showed us not to be afraid of mixing patterns. Yes, you can do this. Keep the prints in the same color family, like leopard and tiger, or snow leopard and python. Oh, and the furry booties are to die for!

Missoni

We also know Missoni for the colorful knits, and this Fall/Winter collection was no different. Pale blues, pinks with black and nudes were seen. Oversized sweaters with asymmetrical necklines were shown. A very interesting, multi-colored crochet dress was my favorite look. Try a pale color, like pink or blue, with black accents to incorporate some Missoni into your wardrobe. You may not want a crochet dress, but a crochet vest could work very well without being too bold.

Pucci

Prince of prints. Yes, it still holds true. Prints, fringe, and not too tight dresses were shown at Pucci. These looks are very wearable right off the runway. Colors ranged from lime green, navy blue ,red and just black. Pucci also showed layers and layers of feathers. Instead of an entire feather dress, try a vest or jacket. If you are daring, wear colored feathers.

Armani

Giorgio Armani was inspired by China this season, in the past it was Japan. Chinese influence was already seen in London and New York this year. Felt skull caps with wide fringe hung over the models' faces. Red was seen throughout the collection, but rich green and mustard yellow also showed up. Mustard yellow has also been seen at several other shows in the last few weeks. Definitely look for this color to add to your wardrobe.
