My Favorite Lines Series: Blank NYC

My favorite skinny jeans are a pair of super dark wash Blank NYC jeans. I like them because they are really skinny, but still long, which I like to wear with booties and heels. Plus, the dark wash has not faded a bit! The soft denim has maintained its shape and does wonders for the booty.

Blank NYC toutes themselves as a premium denim line, but without the premium price tag (starting at $68). I am always on the lookout for budget friendly items that are superior quality, so Blank NYC really appealed to me to begin with. After experiencing the quality first hand, I can attest that these jeans are a must have.

Day to Night Skirts

I'm a dress, skinny black pants, skinny jeans and jeggings person. The few skirts I have rarely make it out of the closet. So, I began thinking what makes a skirt "good"? And, how should I incorporate skirts into my wardrobe?

Gryphon Silk Chiffon Scalloped Skirt

Gryphon Silk Chiffon Scalloped Skirt, $149 from Gilt

Skirts are kind of funny pieces of clothing. In my mind, they are half dress and half pants. A dress is a complete outfit- no figuring out what top to wear or what pants work best. A skirt is feels dressier, like a dress, but you still have the problem that pants present to find a perfect top.

Elizabeth and James Paper Bag Skirt

Elizabeth and James Paper Bag Skirt, $185 from ShopBop

Though, like dresses and pants, a skirt can be casual (denim), work appropriate (pencil) or for going out (the little black skirt). Casual and work skirts, at least in my mind, seem to be well defined. But, it is that going out skirt that is so difficult to wear. You don't want to look slutty (hello, little black skirt), but you still want to look dressier for night. Maybe a day to night skirt is the answer?

Derek Lam Panel Front Wrap Skirt

Derek Lam Panel Front Wrap Skirt, $495 from ShopBop

I decided to look for skirts in colors other than black, with interesting details and luxe fabrics. With the focus on the skirt, you don't need a top that screams for attention. Go with simple tanks (Rory Beca has some great options) that you can throw a jacket over when the weather cools. In the spring and summer, opt for strappy heels or gladiator sandals. You can wear tights with chunkier heels or boots in the fall and winter.

If you must have a black skirt in your wardrobe, look for one that is not the typical tight, black mini. Still, keep your top simple, but don't be afraid to add some bold color.

See, skirts are more versatile than I thought. I'm going to stock up now!

Makeup Eraser Pen

You are putting on your eyeliner and oops! Your perfect liquid eyeliner line goes awry. Don't get frustrated; just grab the Revlon Makeup Eraser Pen ($7.79).

The Revlon Makeup Eraser Pen is the size of lip liner or eyeliner with a small, rounded felt tip. The precise tip of the pen allows you to remove the mistake and correct it without touching the rest of your makeup.

Revlon Makeup Eraser Pen

I know how frustrating it can be when you mess up, try to fix the mistake, make it worse and end up having to take off all your eye makeup, which inevitably removes your concealer, foundation and powder around your eye too. This always seems to happen I'm running late or getting ready for a special event. With the Revlon Makeup Eraser Pen, all I have to do is erase the little mistake and keep on going.

This little tool is a must to add to your makeup collection. Find the Revlon Makeup Eraser Pen online at DrugStore.com or in the makeup section of your local drug store.

POP!

Several months ago I was doing my normal 11:00 am activity- checking all the sample sale sites to make sure I'm not missing anything that I need.

I usually only buy MAC cosmetics, I couldn't resist the Pop Lippy Hippie lip gloss set on sale at Haute Look. It looked like so much fun, perfect for summer or on the weekends when you want a bit of lip color to run errands, but don't want a whole face of makeup.

Pop Lippy Hippie

Pop Lippy Hippie, $25

The Lippy Hippie set ($25) comes in a medium sized square box with see through top (and cute words printed on top: music, love, peace, freedom, etc), a lip brush that fits nicely inside and 20 lip glosses. The glosses range in color from sheer to red to plum. Colors vary in intensity and some are shimmery, while others are just glossy. Use the gloss over lipstick, lip pencil or own its own.

Pop Minty Goodnight Kiss

Pop Minty Goodnight Kiss, $18

Pop is an affordable line that is fun and girly, but also has a lot of great products to choose from. Pick up a their version of lip plumper, Lip Cushion which adds volume instead of inducing swelling that stings. If you want to try some bright eye shadows, but don't want to spend lots of dough at your regular makeup counter, grab Pop's Lid Neon set. Get 6 fabulous colors (green, yellow, pink, orange, teal, blue) for only $22!

Pop Smoky Eye Class

Pop Smoky Eye Class, $32

Bronzers are great, but when you hit the beach or pool and it washes off, you are left with a streaky face or even a bare face. Tan in a Pan is waterproof! Go ahead and jump in with confidence. Also, a huge selection of nail polish will guarantee you find your favorite color.

If you just don't know what to get, ask Sara Strand, the creator of Pop!

Shoes Gone Wrong

I love shoes in all their colors, details and height that make them unique. But, sometimes there is too much of a good thing. The blog If Shoes Could Kill chronicles the over-the-top creations, shoes that should never see the light of day and shoes that you could break an ankle wearing. Plus, there are shoes that are just plain funny, like the slipper dust pan combo. If Shoes Could Kill is a great blog to laugh at the various finds, but might give you ideas about starting your own crazy shoe collection.
