Neck ties aren't just for guys anymore! This fall and winter tops with neck ties are popping up all over the place. These neck ties aren't the typical menswear business attire though.

Designers are adding tie details to their tops to be worn in a floppy bow. This added detail makes a plain top stand out and eliminates the need for a necklace or scarf.

A neck tie top is great for work, but also for going out on a date or with friends. The added tie gives it a bit more punch for night than a simple top. You can even layer a deep v-neck sweater or cardigan over the top for added dimension, texture and interest. Try adding another hot fall/winter item to the top layer: the brooch.

To avoid looking matronly, avoid overly matchy pieces, pearls and pastels.

Get Tied Up in Bows & Ribbons

Fall trend alert: bows and ribbons. This feminine trend was seen on the Fall 2010 Valentino couture runway and designers have taken note.

The tricky thing about bows and ribbons is keeping the look mature and not veering into childlike. You can do this with style, cut, color and what you wear the clothing with. If you pick, say this pink Leifsdottir cardigan, pair it with black or gray and keep the rest of the pieces tailored.

My Favorite Lines Series: Eryn Brinie

Eryn Brinié is an interesting line with multi-national influences. The company is based in South Korea, but aims to juxtapose French chic with hip, youthful New York style. The name Eryn Brinié comes from a character that the developers of the line came up with in order to inspire their designs. Eryn is a young, chic French woman that enjoys spending time in cafes and going to museums.

The clothes are feminine, but not overtly girly. You can easily wear an entire Eryn Brinié outfit, but the separates mix well with other lines too.

Chunky Bracelets

Chanel accessorized with chunky bangle bracelets for their Fall/Winter show. Models had layers and layers of bracelets encircling their wrists as they walked down the runway. Some of the bracelets matched on another, but others were complementary.

This is an easy trend to incorporate into your wardrobe. For day, wear two or three bangles on one wrist. For evening, add bracelets to your other wrist. Layer on four or more bracelets on each wrist for night and parties.

A set of black bracelets is a must have this fall. Black can be worn with a variety of colors and is suitable for day or night. A gold and/or silver set is also a great investment.

The Sweatshirt Gets a Makeover

Sweatshirt! The word strikes fear in many a fashionista! On the other hand, the word also makes you smile a bit, reminds you of lounging on the couch watching movies, snuggling with that special someone- even if it is a dog or cat. Good news for both sides, sweatshirts have gotten a makeover this fall and are more chic than ever.

MK2K Sequined Sleeve Sweatshirt, $165 from Cusp

Nighttime looks are going more casual, and you might even be able to wear a sweatshirt (the right one, mind you!) out with friends. Usually, the sweatshirt is relegated to home wear only, so pay attention to the rules of the new sweatshirt.

The classic crew neck sweatshirt with a banded bottom and over sized mid-section and sleeves are to remain hidden away in your closet. Hoodies almost always automatically disqualify a sweatshirt from being worn out and about.

Look for embellishments, like rhinestones and sequins, for night sweatshirt wear. Added details like a cowl neck, braiding, and silk insets make the sweatshirt more sophisticated. Wear these with skinny jeans, leggings or jeggings with booties or tall boots. Remember to keep the proportions of the rest of your look fitted so you don't look too boxy.

Also, a sweatshirt does not necessarily have to be a shirt. Now, you can find blazers, dresses and skirts in sweatshirt material, which makes for a comfy and warm outfit. Pair a sweatshirt dress with a funky belt, cropped blazer and tall boots for a fashion forward ensemble. The sweatshirt dress is the new sweater dress.
